i want a bean feast

maura @ 10:48 am

One pleasant side effect of all that healthy eating we’ve been trying to do for the past decade (cheese, except at parties!) as well as joining a gym 2 yrs ago is that I’ve lost all the Gus baby weight and then some. I weigh less than I have in 15 yrs at least, and I’m generally pretty happy about it.

Except that now I really, really, really have to go clothes shopping. I mostly do not like any shopping, and I definitely HATE clothes shopping. All that trying stuff on takes so much time and effort, and I’m not always good at picking things that flatter me. Jonathan is better at it than I am, but who has the time for us BOTH to go shopping at once? I wish I could buy things online but since sizes are always so variable it’s too risky.

But my wardrobe is in painful need of some updating. For the past 5 (!) yrs I’ve only worked in an office 2 days/week. But this semester I have three days of internship per week, and dammit, I’d like to be able to wear a different pair of pants for each of those days.

So my New Year’s resolution is to stop buying unflattering clothing! And before the semester starts I will spend some time shopping for some grown-up clothes that fit and look nice. Would that we were flush with cash I would splurge on this incredibly fun skirt, though it’s not really work-friendly. Friendly critters!

The cuckoo clock sweater clip is a riot! Too bad it’s sold out.

I think the skirt would look great, especially in the spring time. That could be tomorrow if this nice weather keeps up.

Looking forward to seeing you next semester!

In case you don’t know the site.

I know, there’s all kinds of good stuff there: gnome pin! toadstool skirt!

Thanks for that Etsy link, too, very cool. I can see myself wasting a LOT of time poking around there.

I’m looking forward to getting back to the library, too. See you soon!

Hey M-
Just take your measurements and match them to a size chart!
Wah -la – pain free online shopping!
Happy New Year!

Man, I WISH I could buy normal clothes!!! I love shopping, what is up with the nonshoppers? Try Hanna Andersson! I get like 3 catalogs a week! The shoes…ahh! I have ths snowflake clogs and the flower power ones, plus some in French blue (people think I’m a Duke fan). And these navy shoes, they look black next to navy and navy next to black, well they’re fading so not as much so anymore. Also some boots–they are brown and short, if I ever die make SURE they bury me in them. Or I will come haunt you.

Here ya go: http://www.hannaandersson.com/. Cute kid clothes, too! They USED to have maternity but no more! So you are buying for two.

Good point, Anissa, but of course I forgot to mention that I am laaaaaaazy. :)

Anne, I love HA but they are too spendy for our eXtreme budget right now. Their kids clothes are awesome — we still have the little stripey PJs you guys sent when Gus was a baby, I cannot bring myself to get rid of them because they are too adorable!

Re: HA. The online sales are not too bad…esp. right after holidays, such as now (so get going). Also you’re gonna need an interview suit! And shoes, you MUST be needing shoes!

I am at the point today where I have decided I fit into exactly nothing, not even my flamingo sweatpants, but could not bear to hit the outlet mall during the season. They have a great Motherhood Maternity store there–I got a dress there last time for like $4, could not afford not to buy it!

Oh I am sending you a pic of a really perfect dress for you! Actually it was for Renee Zellweger but imagine your self in it!

Wait, where is the pic? I am waiting with baited breath!
