a person’s a person no matter how small

It’s 9pm, do you know where your children are? In our house he is being read to by Grandpa, after having played a rousing match of Wii Tennis with Grandma. This mama is enjoying the slacking, yo.

But do you have to cook Thanksgiving?!? If so, slack will not last long.

I thought about J. the other day. Ben made chicken & dumplings from Cook’s Country, their so-called “easier” recipe which evidently (according to Ben) wasn’t. J. made it seem so easy that time I was in nyc!

Yeah, today is less slacking, at least from a non-parenting perspective. We are actually having the big dinner tomorrow, because J’s ‘rents need to leave on Thu. Tomorrow I am sous chef!

Cook’s is such a mixed bag, even their main recipes! Some are easy-ish and delicious, but some are just overwrought. The blueberry muffins are kickass though!

We get both Cook’s and Cook’s Country, and by “we” I mean “Mom & Ben.” Wednesday nights just aren’t that special…

Ben noted the other day that they never get it right the first time when they experiment! Or if they do, they don’t publish that content. (“We always wanted to re-create grandma’s special carrot blintzes, but she died as she was dictating the recipe to us. Imagine our surprise when, on our first try, using only leftover Gerber carrots and generic sour cream, we were able to capture the flavor that had eluded us for
so, so long!”)

Har, that is totally true about the recipes, they DO tell you about everything that went wrong! I guess they need something to fill out the article, right? If all they said was “here’s what we did and it was tasty!” they’d have to run ads in those magazines or something.
