that time of year

Gus’s birthday is coming up, and this year he wants a bowling party. Absolutely! Good for everyone: we don’t have to clean the house, and Gus gets a party.
The bowling alley gave us invitations to send to his friends. Check out this blast from the past:
So awesome! We can’t figure out if they’re intentionally trying to attract the parents who love those fabulous ’70s fonts, or if these invitations have actually been around for that long.

Send us one! This is a collector’s item. Maybe you pass through a time warp as you enter the premises? I have some clothes from then if you want to dress appropriately.
I should get a shot of the other side, too — one of the kids going to throw the ball has his legs drawn like when a Peanuts character is running really fast.
Scott, an invite is on its way! We’ve been to this bowling alley before and it’s just a normal bowling alley, so funny that these invites are so old school.
Why are those two boys aiming the ball at the balloons? As heavy as that ball is, there is no way it’s going to do any harm to the balloons.
Oh, my money is on the bowling alley having printed those up in batches of 1000 a long long time ago.
